Press Release - 5 November 2009

OLYMPUS LAUNCHES NEW PEN DIGITAL CAMERA WITH ADDED FEATURES

Building on the success of the Olympus Pen, the new Olympus E-P2 in stylish black includes a host of new features for sharp, creative digital SLR quality images in a compact and easy to use, manageable design. Available from January 2010 at theOlympus E-P2 and EVF price of £849, including an electronic viewfinder, the new Olympus E-P2 allows you to record seven minutes of HD quality footage, as well as capturing high-resolution still shots at the touch of a button. A new port allows you to plug in the electronic viewfinder or external microphone and an optional matching black leather body jacket and strap will also be available.

The included electronic viewfinder displays high-resolution bright images in all conditions and can be tilted up to 90 degrees. Two new Art Filters, Diorama and Cross Process allow for greater creativity and image enhancement when used in conjunction with a colour boosting i-Enhance function. Diorama creates the illusion of a model world and Cross Process flips colours around. The two new Art Filters join six other Art Filters, which can be applied to images on the camera after a picture has been taken. Multi Exposure mode allows images to be overlapped.

When filming HD quality movies you can add the Art Filters for creative effects and also control and vary the depth of field, angle of view and autofocus. To take the guesswork out of achieving sharp focus, shifting electronic image stabilisation (Digital IS) ensures perfect pictures every time and high quality sound guarantees your movies sound crisp and clear, perfect for music videos or video messages for friends and family. The movies can then be played back on your computer and TV. Rear of Olympus E-P2 and EVF

The new Olympus E-P2 also benefits from a clever AF tracking function, which guarantees sharp images even if your subject is moving – perfect for a night out with friends or at music concerts. Image Stabilisations is also on board for great looking pictures perfect for crowded environments and Face Detection allows for perfectly focused and exposed faces.

An intelligent i-Auto option allows the camera to automatically adjust to six common scene modes, such as landscape, portrait and night and e-Portrait ensures your subjects will always look their best, allowing you to smooth away wrinkles and eliminate imperfections and blemishes. The camera can be used with interchangeable lenses, including the new super wide-angle zoom lens and high power telephoto zoom lens, which will be available from early 2010.

A Dust Reduction system protects your camera when changing lenses. SD cards can also be used with the camera, so you never have to worry about having enough space for your movies and pictures.
